Say Working on the busy line, with a 3x3 loading grid
The line above the prompt box now says Working with a steady timer and a small loading grid, and the background-tasks chip moves onto that line.
The busy line used to say “Thinking” for any wait on the model, including the gaps between tool calls, and it named each foreground command as it ran, so a run of short calls flashed one name after another. Its timer also restarted at 0s with every call.
- Working now covers the model and foreground tool calls, and the timer counts from the start of the turn so it never jumps back. “Thinking” appears only on the reasoning row while reasoning text streams.
- One sentence: the time sits in the same text as the label (“Working 1m 09s”), and the shimmer runs across both.
- Loading grid: a 3×3 grid of small cells in the theme’s accent lights up in a diagonal wave. It holds still under Reduce Motion.
- Background tasks: the chip moves to the busy line’s row and reads “3 tasks running”. It opens the same list with a stop button for each task.
